Male chinchillas have a large gap between the Anus and the penile cone. Some males show their testicles, others are able to retract them.

It's important to know what sex your chinchilla is, whether it be to know about routine husbandry each sex needs or to be sure to make the right choices when adding more chinchillas to your herd. Female Chinchilla

Here you can see a female chinchilla.

Female chinchillas do not have a large gap between the anus and uterine cone. They are squished closely together. Females also have a slice down the cone from top to bottom ( the opening of the vagina ).
